Teej – the festival of rich culture of Jaipur

Jaipur is land of colors, tradition, heritage, culture and rituals. Teej is one the most popular festival of Rajasthan, which comes during the monsoon season of July-August. It is said that the Goddess Parvati met Lord Shiva after a long duration on a specific day, which is now celebrated as Teej. Women worship Goddess Parvati for the long life of their husband on this sacred day.

Women get dressed up with especial sari known as lahariya, beautiful jewelry, bangles and apply heena. Especial Rajasthani sweet dish known as Ghevar act as the cherry on the cake it is said that the festival is incomplete without this Rajasthani Sweet dish. In the evening two day fair is organized in the walled city where the city entire gathers to get a glimpse of the rich culture of traditional tableaus, folk dancers, camels and horses beautifully decorated to walk along with goddess Teej.
