Photo walk of ALBERT HALL MUSEUM – International Museum Day

Albert Hall Museum also known as Town Hall, is situated in the heart of the City Jaipur. It is the oldest museum of the state Rajasthan, located in Ram Niwas Garden, outside the city wall opposite New Gate. It is considered as a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The beautiful sculptured building was designed by  Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and was assisted by Mir Tujumool Hoosein. Town Hall was opened for public as the museum in 1887.

Maharaja Ram Singh initially wanted this building to be a Town Hall, but his successor, Madho Singh II, decided it should be a museum for the art of Jaipur and included as part of the new Ram Niwas Garden.

The museum has a rare collection of art facts like paintings, carpets, ivory, stone, metal sculptures, colorful crystal works etc.

The royal architect was named after King Edward VII (Albert Edward), who visited the city as the Prince of Wales; its foundation stone was laid on 6 February 1876.

Jaipurtalks, the blog of Jaipur, brings an exclusive photo walk of Albert Hall.
